Capoeira comes to my life in 1970. I started learning from a friend Natanaí who was a Ogan from a Candomblé (temple) right across my house in Santo Amaro Street in the Catête neighborhood, Rio. Catête, Glória and Lapa – neighborhoods of central Rio – were all next to each other.
I remember that one of the cool moves he used to do back then was a S-Dobrado and Meia-Lua de Compasso. I was ten years old, I was fascinated.
