Choose Your Berimbau

Each berimbau is made using traditional materials and techniques, delivering rich, resonant tones ideal for training, performances, and rodas. Each berimbau comes complete with :

• 1 Vergas (approx. 66 in / 168 cm each)
• 1 Cabaças – Choose between Gunga, Médio, or Viola
• 1 Arame (steel wire)
• 1 Caxixi (shaker)
• 1 Dobrões (metal coins)
• 1 Baquetas de Tucum (strikers)

Berimbau Gunga

• Produces the deepest, lowest tone in the bateria
• Features the thinnest verga (berimbau bow)
• Equipped with the largest cabaça (gourd resonator)
• Foundation of the capoeira rhythm

Berimbau Médio

• Balanced, versatile mid-range tone
• Medium-thickness verga
• Mid-sized cabaça
• Perfect for beginners and intermediate capoeiristas

Berimbau Viola

• Produces the highest tone in the bateria

Stringing & Tuning Service (Optional)

If you are new to the berimbau, we highly recommend adding our stringing and tuning service (add 3 total for a full bateria). Berimbaus are traditionally strung when played and unstrung when stored, and shipping them fully strung is not standard practice.

However, for beginners who need assistance, we are happy to ship your berimbau(s) pre-strung upon request. Please note that shipping a strung berimbau is less secure, but we will accommodate those who need help learning the process.
